Dual-Gap Dual-Pole Composite Machine for Mechanical Rotor Position Estimation

Position sensorless control has been widely studied for electrical rotor position estimation. However, because of the magnetic periodicity, mechanical multipole electric machine was hardly reported. By increasing dimensions, this article proposes novel topologies named as dual-gap dual-pole composite machines, where can be demodulated from positions two air gaps. The and corresponding theory are elaborated, one is selected primary prototype, which composed a permanent magnet synchronous with six poles variable reluctance resolver four poles. Detailed design analysis on prototype along strategy presented. Finally, experiments carried out based to verify feasibility proposed methodology.
